When I do these shirts, some people think I'm making light of mental illness, buts the opposite. Racing thoughts, intrusive thoughts, hearing voices, those are all very real and scary things. For those of us who suffer from these it's an everyday battle.
This art and these shirts are a way for us to take ownership and our own story back from the stigma surrounding us. I have some I wear myself and I find them empowering. That is my goal.
