Hellfire and Brimstone Original Drawing
This drawing is inspired by my own religious trauma. As a kid, I would go to Bible camp in the summers. We would play games and things, but then every night was chapel when they would tell us how awful we all were.
Mind you this was 10-15 yr old kids and during altar calls they would have us bow our heqds and close our eyes. They would tell us to imagine being in hell, surrounded by nothing but complete darkness and the sounds of people screaming. To imagine our skin and bodies on fire and our flesh blistering, bubbling and popping in excruciating pain, seperated from our parents and God for all eternity, unless we came forward and got saved.
I realized way into adulthood this is psychological abuse and explains a lot of things for me. But This piece represents those fears and feelings.
This was done with Ohuhu alcohol markers on 11x14 marker paper.
