I painted this dark gothic home decor painting because of what I've seen in my recent travels. Here in Texas, we have vultures. I'm not sure if it's because I've been getting out more this year, or if something is afoot, but I've seen a LOT of vultures lately when I've been out. 

Even in the city I saw a wake of vultures on a city street pecking at a recent roadkill. I've never seen that before. 

The spiritual meaning of a vulture centers on transformation, purification, and renewal. Far from being mere scavengers, these birds symbolize the ability to rise above challenges, digest heavy emotions or trauma, and clear away what no longer serves you to make way for new growth. 

I've been through a lot of growth the past several years, the point to which I hardly recognize my old self. But I wonder if the growth this time will be collective, like as a city or society. I think this may be where things are headed, which may be painful at first, but will benefit us all in the long run.
