Finding My Footing: A Blog's Journey to Substack

So I find myself here on Substack after moving around for the past month. I started my blog on Ghost and wanted to monetize with Google adsense. but Adsense couldn’t detect my Ghost site, so I went to Wordpress. After a week or two of fighting with plugins and code, I moved back to ghost. I got monetized by a company called Admaven who told me the next day my blog is too niche (mental health, art and spirituality) for blog they want to work with. So they pulled the ads.

After mulling it around I moved to Substack. I had wanted to self host and have full ownership of my content, which I think I do here. But I wanted more control over subscribers and such, but its pointless if no one can find you. So here we are. I have to say I frustrate myself with how indecisive I am and changing my mind every few days. Its either the bipolar or autism, or some combo of both.

After playing on here for a few hours, I’m kind of kicking myself for not joining sooner. I feel like I’m late to a party and everyone else is 4-5 drinks in. I guess better late than never. So far all of my posts are free, and not sure at what point I’ll add a paywall for longer posts. I just really hate how flighty I am sometimes. I know some readers already gave up on me because I keep moving it. I would give up on me too if I’m honest.

So we’ll see how all this goes. This blog is my love and my passion project. I have a day job I work from home, but this is my dream job and goal. So hopefully I can see that through, blogging about things that I feel help others. I hope you’ll join me on this journey and see what we can learn about each other along the way.
