The Rebirth of Authenticity

For years on the Internet, everything was focused on perfection. Celebrities, influencers, recipes and even art. Everything had to be picture perfect and pristine.
It was exhausting and led to a lot of mental health issues and people not feeling good enough. I know as an outsider artist it's hard to not compare myself with others and feel not good enough because of my own messy style.
Over this last year as America burns and AI slop is taking over online spaces, authenticity is coming back with a vengeance!
My favorite artists, bands and musicians social media presence is raw and unfiltered along with their art. Their houses are messy And their art is chaotic. I like it that way. We are real people and not brands.
I have a confession to make. Through my website when you upload new art, the systems AI automatically fills in a title and description and I was just going with that because after finishing a piece, coming up with a whole title and description felt overwhelming.
The other day an artist friend on threads suggested to not overthink it. Don't worry if it's marketable or sales friendly. Just loosen up and make them both real and unhinged.
So that's what I've been doing the past few days with great results. I got my first sale on Fine Art America yesterday, and my traffic and social media engagement has shot way up with the crazy titles and captions vs. the safe versions.
With everything online being so safe and sanitized, people want real, raw and unfiltered. If someone is going to buy my art, it's not because it was a perfect picture, but because it touched a nerve with them. They connected with the art and even with me and my story.
So going forward this is my pledge, to keep my art, descriptions and stories behind it as raw real and unhinged as I can.
One thing I've found in this journey is how many kindred spirits I have who've felt silenced or afraid to speak on their own story for so long. But my art and journey has empowered them to speak up. That is more valuable than any sale.
So thank you everyone who has joined me on this crazy ride and hold on tight!
